Beyond Salvage - A graphic novel

Part Five

I will not run in to save a damsel in distress. I will not poke my head into other peoples business. I will not land into any further trouble. I will remain careful.- I continued the auto-hypnotic chants as I walked ahead.
Then came the scream. Loud. Terrified. Distinctly female scream. It was almost as if Minca was transposed to the next street.
I will not rush in to save a damsel in distress! I steeled my resolve and continued to walk in the same direction.
No master! Don’t respond to the screams. I am certain that it is a trap. Keep going straight to the main road. Don’t stop.
I was really irritated. My inner mind had already told me not to interfere. And now this Gok. Two negatives certainly made one positive.
I decided to disregard both my inner mind and the lizard in my pocket.
I swiveled around abruptly and started walking towards the screams. I heard it yet once again. It was indeed a female in terror.
No master! Please don’t!. but the goks pleadings only acted in the opposite was as I almost broke out into a sprint.
I seemed to be a specialist in attracting damsels in distress. This one appeared to be an action replay of what had happened with Minca on my home planet.
Both my inner mind and the lizard in my pocket were screaming their heads off urging me extreme caution.

This damsel was curvier, prettier and sexier.

I will not rush headlong into trouble… my auto hypnotic suggestions continued to bug me.

I thus decided not to rush headlong. I cautiously took a few steps closer.

The villains were three in number. In some strange local fashion, they were dressed in playing card suit designs. Diamonds, hearts and clubs.

This did look like a genuine assault. Probably even an attempted rape. Even as I watched, diamonds darted his hand and yanked the front of her dress.

Clubs joined the fun and ripped her clothes.

The body uncovered was sensuous indeed.
But what surprised me was the total lack of struggle. she stood silently even without token resistance.
Only then did I glimpse at the opposite side and saw the pointed laser pistol. And the one eyed spades with a leery grin!
Even I would stand rooted and petrified to my spot if a laser pistol was pointed towards me. Well not actually me, because I was different. The girl however behaved exactly as she should in such a situation.
No master! Please don’t do your activation magic! I can not hold on! Anyway it looks like a trap. It is better if we leave now!
My Gok had not been too accurate in his diagnosis in the past and I chose to disregard him. But I did not make any move towards the girl either!
When diamonds yanked her panties down, I knew that it was no trap. The poor thing was indeed in trouble.
The laser pistol had physically immobilized her, but had not frozen her vocal chords. Her petrified eyes pleaded with me as she softly screamed – help!

I recognized the model. An advanced version of the type that the Galactic Security carried. A red beam, once sweep, and the body cleanly cleaved into two halves. I wondered how street goons in such a seedy place could have access to such a sophisticated weapon!
I took two steps closer

My movement seemed to have alerted the spades who moved his laser pistol in an arc and now the barrel was pointed towards me.
She seemed to realize that the laser pistol spoilt the equation moreover they were four and I was only one!
Spades covered all of us while the others moved to me. The girl did not attempt to run away. The pistol had quite a long range.
This was not a trap. But I was in serious danger of loosing my life by poking my nose into other peoples business. Unlike Minca’s brother and the Cyborg, rank amateurs, this deck of cards was a professional bunch.
Irrespective of what Auxumba had said and notwithstanding Gok’s suggestions, I knew that I had to act. My hand went to the button in my back.
At eleven X speed, they were no match for me. It appeared as if I had flown to spades.
In one invisible movement, the pistol was squeezed out of his hands and tossed to the pretty girl..who caught it deftly
In my modified mode, I had no need for laser pistols. In any case I did not want to kill anyone. I was already in enough trouble.
A pistol takes one point eight seconds to travel six meters and this was enough for me.
Moving at eleven X speed, I acted. A broken jaw.
A cracked thigh.
A dislocated shoulder and fractured tibia.
The four assailants lay in four directions.
Master, please have mercy on me! Goks thought waves hit me only after I deactivated.
I gave a wide smile as I walked towards her.
She stood still laser pistol in hand, totally nude, making no attempts to cover her lush lascivious body.
One look at her and I fell in love again
It was a Minca story all over. My mind went into an imagination drive.
Whoever she was, I could not have managed a better introduction to her. With a serene smile and a reassuring demeanor, I walked towards her with an outstretched hand.
