Part Six

| And then she crushed my palm with such a great force that I could hear my palm bones crunch. |
In the same movement, she gave a jerk as my shoulder dislocated and I was flung away a few meters. |

| The pain was agonizing. |
Her face had broken out into a smile. A sneer, a cruel sardonic winner’s smile. |

| The laser pistol moved in a gentle arc, its ugly tip pointed straight towards me. |
I could catch the flicker of motion as her finger touched the trigger switch. |

| I saw something jump out of my pocked and frog-leap towards her |
Well madam I have done exactly as your instructions. I hope I have done well and not disappointed you. |

| The smile did not waver. The expression of extreme confidence could have only been borne by a member of the elite Galactic Security while terminating someone Beyond Salvage. |
The red beam shot out |

| And cleanly split me into two. The halves lay writhing like an amputated worm. |
The last thing I saw was the Gok being petted by her as she bore a victor’s smile on completing a mission. |

| The end | Pause! Stop! Hold on! The alert reader would say. This story is simply not believable. The ending is so abrupt. In addition, how can you tell a story in first person if the hero is no longer alive in the end? |

| Ok! Here is the truth. Carinomunda had forbidden me from telling you this part of my story, but I will break my promise! |
When I had requested a modification, my list had been exhaustive. The twenty-eight digit code was for mental modifications. |

| It had cost so much because I had been surgically engineered to read minds and thoughts. To evaluate and assess emotions. |
Though Gok was a mind reader, he was simply too basic and amateur for my level of skills. I had seen through his act, even as I had set eyes on him. |

| Even Faxigin had too elementary a mind and I could easily conclude that he was a Galactic Security plant. |
The Galactic Security had already known about my flight plans and Carinomunda was the special agent sent to tackle me. |

![]() |
A single agent was considered enough, because the Galactic Security did not know about my modified status. |
Gok was sent to read my mind and collect my octadisk codes. After the agent terminated me, all she would have to do was to recover my octadisk. |

| In any case money was not an issue. I had been coded Beyond Salvage, and the interests of justice would only be served by my termination. |
I thus knew the whole plan well in advance. I was able to control Gok’s mind so that it was never aware that it was helping me. |

| No doubt Carinomunda was surprised to see my activation, but knowing all about activations, she decided to wait till I deactivated. She knew that I could not re-activate immediately, without causing myself serious harm. |
What she did not know was that I removed the power console before tossing her the pistol. |

| She was also unaware that I had not deactivated as I walked close to shake her hands. |
She activated as I walked close and had planned to chutney me and blast me apart. Only that the handshake did not go on as expected. She simply could not break my bones. |

| Close proximity to her produced strange stirrings in me and I folded her into a fierce hug, planting a forceful kiss on her lips. |
Initially I could feel the resistance but then slowly felt her body mellow and melt in my embrace. |

| The fact that she was nude and that I had been away from female company for so long, might have had something to do with what happened next. Our lovemaking was intensely passionate and I was surprised at the excitement displayed by her during the final throes of climax. |
I wanted to bid a polite goodbye and walk away. But she held me by my wrist. |

| She had suddenly made a decision. |
The fact that a member of the elite Galactic Security with all her resources had failed in a simple Beyond Salvage operation would not go well with her superiors. Disciplinary action and departmental enquiry were not something that she would like to endure. |

| Galactic Security was a well paid job, but the fact that I had over half a billion credits in my octadisk might have helped her to make a decision. |
She whispered to me that life with me on a vacation planet with half a billion in our pockets would be a far better option that continuing with Galactic Security. She did not make her proposition immediately but my mindreading abilities allowed me to perceive what she had in her mind. |

A scene was set. The laser gun charred the bodies beyond recognition. The final Galactic Security version was the bold agent who had successfully terminated a Beyond Salvage, but lost her life in line of duty.
|
The vacation planet was all and more that what I had imagined with Minca. |

| But doing nothing all the while does become boring. I thus decided to write this story. |
Carinomunda was all love, support and encouragement while I chronicled my saga, but was worried about Galactic Security and their spies. |
![]() |
![]() |
| No doubt I had promised to her that I would not reveal the real ending, but then as we all know, promises are meant to be broken. After all my readers are as important to me as Carinomunda. |
We enjoy our lives on this wonderful planet, whose coordinates I wont divulge. Faxigin was wrong. Gok had been a tiny infant when he came to me. In two years he has really grown. He is now a beloved pet. I am also working on my next story which I promise will be equally fascinating. Till then good bye! |
